Chinese designer Chi Zhang staged an audaciously energetic debut NYFW show aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. He’s got a cult following on his home turf, given his leanings toward maximized, deconstructed, gender-amorphous silhouettes.
He claims New York is his favorite city in the world because it’s a great source of inspiration as well as a hub of pop culture. The clothes, however grand and playful, had a focus on the current happenings of night culture as well as the endless possibilities of space travel (ergo, space museum). Oversize outerwear, flashy puffers, elongated sleeves and wrapped ties that grazed the floor were some of his flashiest statements.
